KDE has this sprawing config utility, but it can't set a default wallpaper for new activities?
KDE Activities sound like a good idea, but the implementation is half-baked.
LXQt has many fewer bells and whistles than KDE but also many fewer UI inconsistencies.
Does it get me anything over i3?
The ability to pin windows, I guess, but I loose stuff like ad-hoc named workspaces.

Watched Out of the Dark (1995), a Hong Kong paranormal comedy.
Kind of funny, but largely dumb.
I like apartment building setting.
Tried Griffin Claw's Piping Plover.
No complaints — I could drink this refreshing but tasty pilsner all day long.
Watched The Village of No Return.
Good, novel.
Could be viewed as a D&D-ish "what trouble a magic item might cause" fable.
Pretty great, really.
