Thu Mar 17 06:00:01 EDT 2022 ======================================== Slept from ten to six. Partly cloudy until late afternoon then becoming mostly cloudy. Highs around 70. Southwest winds 5 to 15 mph. ☘ Work ---------------------------------------- NRM presented a whitepaper about their stance on geospatial data storage. Researched MFA for Cynerge briefly. Work is kind of mentally exhausting — more in learning the organization than in the technical work. The Cynerge people are all pretty cool, though, and I'm happy I made the switch. It's an interesting experience. Although Cynerge's consulting business isn't exactly a tech startup (it has a longish history of steady government contracts), it runs kind of like a startup. Also, Matt's running a for-real app startup (LocalHop) our of the same office. Anyhow, I now understand how such a plethora of startups can exist to serve other startups. It's not just that people in the startup scene have ideas about the world they've been immersed in; it's that startups are so leanly focused on their own product that they don't have anyone to do in-house IT (or go to a store to buy snacks) Even it spinning up Mattermost would be pretty easy and much cheaper than Slack, startups just don't have anyone one to operate and maintain it. Home ---------------------------------------- * ✓ send di.fm to Cynerge password store * ✓ order new phone and laptop from Apple?? (Pixel is out of support next month) Half-hour walk after work. Warm. An unbelievable number of kids playing in the park, like it's the playground of a middle school. Heard a mourning dove. Washed a load of laundry. Servings: grains 2/6, fruit 2/4, vegetables 2/4, dairy 2/2, meat 2/3, nuts 0/0.5 Breakfast: orange, banana, carrots, hot dog Brunch: green tea Lunch: espresso, Ruben Dinner: cucumber
