Finished reading The Ghost Lab.
The character portraits of the ghost hunters are interesting.
The argument the author overlays on top — that belief in the paranormal is responsible for broadly destroying trust in institutions — is not particularly interesting or well supported.
He never establishes that belief in the paranormal is the cause of loss of faith in institutions.
Loss of faith in institutions could just as easily be a cause of growing belief in the paranormal.
Or there could (and probably is) simply be a correlation without any causal relationship between the two.
Anyhow, interesting character studies and a poorly made, bolted-on argument.
