I'm hearing rumors that the expected reduction in force of federal workers might hit 50% of staff remaining after dismissal of probationary staff and deferred resignations.
That would cripple the Forest Service's ability to fulfill its core missions (like firefighting) even if it comes along with a complete centralization of support services (e.g., the rumors about procurement functions for all federal agencies moving into GSA).
Let's hope it turns out to be much less dramatic.
