Thinking about making a new simple pixel art/mosaic art toy/tool.
The idea had occurred to me before, but (having looked at https://www.beepbox.co/ this morning) I'll revisit the idea of embedding all the data in the URL.
It looks like 8,000 is still the safe character limit for browser URLs, which gives us relatively small pictures.
That's probably OK; let's lean into constraints for this toy.
* Each character is a hexadecial.
* The first few characters will be header/metadata, like:
- identify one of <=16 image dimensions
- identify one of <=16 color palettes
- maybe pixel/tile multiplier (so one pixel/tile is rendered as 4, 8, 16 actual pixels)
* possible aspect ratios/sizes:
- 16:9 16*7=112 wide 9*7=63 high 16*7*9*7=7,056
- 16*7=112 high 9*7=63 wide 16*7*9*7=7,056
- 4:3 4*25=100 wide 3*25=75 high 4*25*3*25=7,500
- 4*25=100 high 3*25=75 wide 4*25*3*25=7,500
