West winds 5 to 10 mph. Work ---------------------------------------- - tell Julie and Randy about vaccine tomorrow Done. - force log people out of door entry system tonight Done. Fifteen minutes on the exercise bike at lunch. Home ---------------------------------------- - 8 AM doctor's appointment (grrr…) Done. I was in and out of the doctor's office this morning in less than half an hour. Not great, but not a total horror show. Hopefully I didn't get COVID. He didn't even take blood! But he renewed my prescription for another three months, so whatever. Took out the trash. Doctor Who season eleven is better than some of the recent seasons. The creative team seems to have shifted back to scifi-driven stories (even if the science is a bit mumbo-jumbo-y) rather than "love saved the universe, somehow, in a way that doesn't need to make any sense". Jodie Whittaker seems like she'll make a good doctor. https://www.usefulscience.org/post/eating-more-fruits-and-vegetables-optimally-two-servings-fruit-and-three-servings-veggies-day https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.120.048996 > Eating more fruits and vegetables, optimally two servings of fruit and three servings of veggies per day, is associated with lower mortality in adults. https://yair.substack.com/p/how-to-explain-the-holocaust-in-one > What exactly is meant by the term "Holocaust"? It means that the global Jewish population in 2019 (~15 million) is still lower than it was in 1939 (16.6 million). So many Jews were murdered that we still haven't recovered demographically after 80 years. https://www.bayeuxmuseum.com/en/the-bayeux-tapestry/discover-the-bayeux-tapestry/explore-online/ https://www.abc12.com/2021/04/12/whitmer-extends-covid-19-workplace-measures-for-six-more-months/ > LANSING, Mich. (WJRT) - A series of COVID-19 measures for workplaces that were scheduled to end this week instead will be extended for six more months. > The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer decided to extend the measures due to Michigan’s ongoing surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, which currently is worst in the country. > The measures include a requirement for employers to allow workers to stay home if they can carry out their responsibilities remotely outside the workplace. > Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services have declined to impose more restrictions during the current surge in COVID-19, which is a contrast to the spikes in the illness last year. Instead, they are relying on personal responsibility for people to follow orders already in place. Texted with Jake a bit.
