Help Derek. Not much. - Follow up with Jennifer about DNS No. - Consider stop list for Entrata and during migration No. Twenty-five-minute walk at lunch. Hot and partly sunny. Heard lots of cicadas. Saw a gold finch and a couple mourning doves. Home ---------------------------------------- - Email mom Done. Project. A web thing. Like a webring. Minimally social. Somewhat decentralized. Light. Goals: - Provide a stream of interesting things to read. - Provide a mechanism for engagement — minimally to "like" a thing (mark it "interesting"). - Make it easy for users to consume. - Make it as decentralized as possible. - For parts that can't be decentralized, make them cheap and easy to host. Ideas: - Operate like a stack. - Like a webring, different communities should be able to operate independent stacks for their interest area. - If some one marks something as "interesting" give it a +1 score. - When a user loads a new item, more interesting things are more likely to appear. - Maybe a user can assign a multiplier to a list of URL's they like, to make things from under those URL's more likely to appear. - There should always be a change to surface random content. Possibly new items should get some interestingness multiplier. - This could all operate as an "overlay" — shared things wouldn't have to first choose to be members of the webring. That is, a community can be interested in something without the authors of that thing being aware of the community.
