Sat Jan 27 09:07:29 EST 2018 Slept from midnight to eight-thirty without waking. High of fifty. Chance of sprinkles. Goals: - Lunch with mom at noon Done. Vacuumed, watered plants. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Readline Took mom and Renny out to lunch. Afterwards, I introduced them to The Great British Baking Show. A pleasant time. Stopped on the way home for a half-hour walk around Beverly Park. Soggy ground, but otherwise enjoyable. Woodsy smell. The moon's out in the afternoon sky. Revisited the "why can't I ssh into Nanook" question. As I suspected, it's the VPN. I'm mainly interested in VPNing DNS. Hmm, I think, "maybe Linux's network namespaces would be a good fit for this." Indeed, network namespaces make it reasonably straightforward. But systemd does nothing to help: https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/2741 Poettering's answer (`ExecStart=/usr/bin/ip netns exec ...`) smells brittle, but I guess I'll see how it works in practice. https://lwn.net/Articles/580893/ http://www.naju.se/articles/openvpn-netns https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/26548/write-all-tmux-scrollback-to-a-file Lunch: coffee, french fries, pork sandwich Dinner: chicken pot pie
