Tue Nov 28 10:04:10 EST 2017 Slept form eleven to seven without waking. High of fifty-three and sunny today. Work: - Check on SQL backup for Hazel Park Done. - Meet fiber installers Done. Thirty-minute walk at lunch. A beautiful day, warm and breezy. I saw three hawks — two distant gliding (probably red-tailed) hawks, and a nearby (probably sharp-shinned or possibly Cooper's) hawk. Home: - Continue Gnome 3 test drive Done. Another half-hour walk after I got home. Blue and orange sunset. Still surprisingly warm and breezy. The slightly-more-than-half moon shows off the running clouds. Gnome complaints (the non-minor ones): - Label the workspaces so I know where I'm at and where I should move windows! - Gnome badly needs a "switch-to-last-used-workspace" keyboard shortcut! I feel like the Gnome developers don't heavily use workspaces themselves. Gnome's "Type to search..." feature could be very powerful, if Gnome gave us a way to tag workspaces and windows with searchable keywords. With a few tweaks, Gnome could be a usable desktop for me, but I'm going back to i3. After I messed around with Gnome, xscreensaver and xautolock have somehow failed. I guess this is a good time to switch to i3lock. $ cat ~/bin/xlock #!/bin/sh /usr/bin/i3lock -f -e Washed a load of laundry, vacuumed, and changed sheets. Lunch: coffee, gyro Dinner: carrots, chips
