Thu Jan 19 07:41:59 EST 2017 Slept from eleven to six-thirty. Woke briefly around four-thirty. Cloudy and forty-two today. Alt-Backspace!!! Deletes the work behind the cursor. I've decided that it wasn't just first impressions; I do dislike OpenRC. That's unfortunate, since I otherwise like Alpine linux a lot. Runit or s6 are much more to my taste. Work: - Manager meeting Canceled! - Read through this, the best OpenRC tour I've found: http://www.funtoo.org/Package:OpenRC Done. - Figure out s6 supervision in Alpine linux Done. s6 sets the scan directory as the argument to `s6-svscan` or (if not supplied) its current directory. On Alpine, the `/etc/init.d/s6-svscan` script sets the scan directory to `/run/openrc/s6-scan` (a tmpfs). How is that supposed to work? Because, under OpenRC with s6 supervision, each service supervised by s6 has an OpenRC init script too. That OpenRC init script can specify `s6_service_path`, which OpenRC symlins into `/run/openrc/s6-scan`. By default, OpenRC sets `s6_service_path` to `/var/svc.d/${RC_SVCNAME}`. Thirty minute walk at lunch. Mostly sunny, which is a welcome change. Debian! What the hell??!! Your minimal installation no longer includes AN EDITOR??! Not vi. Not even ed. Home: - Try to mash runit (Busybox) into Alpine as the init system No, enough of containers and init systems for today. - Go to bed early Done. Washed and put away dishes. Vacuumed. Watched a couple of episodes of HBO's The Young Pope. http://tinyletter.com/arspoetica/letters/ars-poetica-256-internet-folk-poetry-my-name-is-cow my name is Cow, and wen its nite, or wen the moon is shiyning brite, and all the men haf gon to bed - i stay up late. i lik the bred. Breakfast: carrots, coffee Lunch: nuts Dinner: Philly cheesesteak
