I'm pretty sure I took a tour of the Detroit salt mines as a little kid. I remember them being cold and large. Very high ceilings.
Going to have to check out Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum.

The last couple of days, I keep thinking of dad.
Watched the Tick remake pilot. Not bad.
Japan's well-known Good Design Award was given this year to Tokyo-based architect and artist Hajime Narukawa for his map projection method called AuthaGraph, which aims to create maps that represent all land masses and seas as accurately as possible.

1. Divide a sphere (the globe) into 96 regions (the regions look a bit like tall, narrow triangular strips).
2. Map the divided regions onto a bloated/inflated tetrahedron, maintaining the ratio of their areas.
3. Smosh the bloated tetrahedron to a flat tetrahedron, maintaining the ratio of their areas.
4. Unfold the tetrahedron into a flat/one-dimensional rectangular map.
Hour and twenty minute walk around Beverly Park. Overcast, and much warmer than I expected. Humid. Saw raptor (probably a red-tailed hawk) hunting (I think unsuccessfully) in the woods, splashing down a couple of times in the fallen leaves. Saw another large raptor in silhouette, flying with large, rowing stroke. Maybe too large to be a red-tailed hawk, and not flying like one. An eagle?
Took several photos on my phone, just for the hell of it. I sort of miss photography as a hobby. Maybe I should get a phone with a quality camera.
Breakfast: carrots, coffee with half-and-half
