Questions:
- What sort of moth/butterfly did I see on my walk? How does one tell a moth from a butterfly?
http://www.loc.gov/rr/scitech/mysteries/butterflymoth.html
"A butterfly’s antennae are club-shaped with a long shaft and a bulb at the end. A moth’s antennae are feathery or saw-edged."
I saw a butterfly.
At rest, ghost-white wings with dainty round black spots. Though I caught a hint of blue in flight. Smallish. Might have been a pair, although only one observed at rest.
It was Glaucopsyche lygdamus.
