My birding life list
Introduction
The following list shows all birds observed in Michigan (according to the AOU Check-list of North American Birds, 7th edition). Those birds listed in grey are ones which I have not personally observed. I have seen the species listed in green. I only began birding during the summer of 2006. No doubt I have seen more species, but the listed observation dates are when I first documented them while bird watching. As Sherlock Holmes says, "You see, but you do not observe."
Those species listed as [Casual] have been recorded more than three times, but fewer than 30 times, in the last 10 years, and were recorded in fewer than nine of the last 10 years. Species marked [Accidental] have been recorded three or fewer times in the last 10 years. All other listed species have been recorded in at least nine of the last 10 years, or have over 30 records over the last 10 years.
I based this list on one found at on the Rouge River Bird Observatory website.
