Idea for a genre of stories: Think of M.R. James Ghost Stories of an Antiquary, but cast them in a cyberpunk settings. James's protagonists are mostly innocent antiquarians to whose curiosity or blitheness lead them to frightful or unpleasant discoveries, usually of a weird or supernatural character. Have the same thing, but the discoveries are technological dark patterns, accelerationist nihilist startup founders, and evil djinn/shoggoth AIs.
