Mon Nov 2 07:58:37 EST 2015 Went to bed around 10:30, slept well, and woke up around 5:30. Sunny with a high of sixty-eight today. It looks like it might be nice all week. Goals: Work: - Remember to change backup cartridge Done. - Order coax tools Done. - Review invoices Done. - Research remote access, RADIUS, vpn, etc. Done, a little. We would probably want to use strongswan, since it is under active development and supports Windows clients. https://wiki.strongswan.org/projects/strongswan/wiki/Windows7 I think we would want to do username/password authentication EAP-MSCHAP, and need a RADIUS server. Windows Server seems to come with a RADIUS server, which they call the Network Policy and Access Services feature. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755248.aspx https://glazenbakje.wordpress.com/2013/08/31/microsoft-windows-server-2012-radius-setup/ - Read about Docker. Maybe it would be useful for some stuff. - Makes notes about nodejs Done. Started making a few notes: http://paulgorman.org/technical/nodejs.txt Scott's on vacation in Italy for the next couple of weeks, so I'm mainly just trying to hold down the fort. Went for a 40+ minute walk at lunch. Very nice day indeed. Went down to the pond near Franklin Hills to take a look at it now that the leaves are down. Not a duck or bird to be seen. I did see another one of those red-tailed dragon flies, like the one I saw at Beverly Park yesterday. I think the dragonfly is an anax longipes (a.ka. comet darner). http://agrilife.org/dragonfly/dragonfly-catalog/aeshnidae/anax-longipes_male_top_view/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comet_darner "The comet darner is a large dragonfly and has a green thorax and bright red abdomen. Females have a brownish abdomen patterned with blue spots. Comet darner are found in shallow lakes and ponds which tend to have extensive beds and grasses and lack fish. They are found along the eastern United States from Missouri, Michigan, New England and some even further north." I've also noticed quite a few papery wasp nests since the leaves fell. http://paulgorman.org/diary/20151102.jpg Rochester Villas had a stupid check scanning problem that ate up most of my afternoon. Had to stay late to reboot Yardi web server. Home: - Figure out how a couple of chess engines model the board Went for a short walk after work. Very pleasant night. Discovered my car has fake manual transmission mode. Cool. Not sure how much I'll ever use it, but cool.
