Slept from ten-something to just before seven. Up before my alarm clock went off. Woke up twice in the night: once around one-thirty, and very briefly again around five when the dumpster emptying and car starting commenced. I feel pretty rested, though.

Pretty sunrise this morning. A great expanse of dusky red-orange expanding from the horizon, topped with a large, isolated mass of purple-gray clouds. Venus is bright in the eastern sky, and the waxing one-third moon near its apex.

High of forty-three today. Mostly cloudy with rain likely in the afternoon and evening. We may even get thunder.

    - Continue thin client config. Get x11vnc to autostart on boot.
      Not much.
    - Where is Julie's SSD?
      Done.
      Sigh. USPS claims it was delivered at 9:21 this morning. If so, it wasn't delivered here.
      ...and it arrived this afternoon.
    - Review invoices
      Some.
    - Order monitor (For which property? I can't find a ticket on it.) Georgian Manor.
      Done.


The phone system at Central seems to have finally really truly died. Going over there....

Replaced the phone system. Went pretty well, but took several hours.

    Home:
    - Laundry
      No.
    - Grocery (carrots, mixed greens, yogurt)
      Done.
    - Download Dreamhost backup, just in case
      Done.

Did more work on DO vm.

Questions:

    - Do the iptables rules on a host (INPUT chain) affect the guests?
      No, not with everything "plugged into" br0, which is conceptually a layer 2 network switch.
      If we did want to have the host firewall for guests, we'd look to ebtables.
