Thu Nov 12 08:10:48 EST 2015 Slept from about eleven to seven. The rain was loud enough to wake me once, around three. I feel pretty rested. Rainy today, with a high of fifty-three. High wind warning this morning, with gusts up to fifty-five mph. I played with Fedora on my Macbook Air a little last night. I've been trying to give Gnome 3 a chance, but it doesn't seem like a productive environment so far. Also, Fedora doesn't appear to have an equivalent of Debian's weather-util packages. This will do, but I may want to write it to a file as an hourly cron job to minimize my hits on NOAA: curl -s http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/observations/metar/decoded/KVLL.TXT | sed -n '5,6p;8p' Scott's still on vacation. Last week was nice, a little vacation for me from Scott. This week, I'm tired of dealing with mundane user stuff, and want my front line guy back. Goals: Work: - Turn on clamav for squid Done. - Work on remote access Done. Installed NPS on domain controllers. - Get the new Kristen squared away with accounts and a workstation Done, mostly. - Review invoices Done. - Order new laptop for Lori Done. Sweet! It looks like there's a new Vietnamese noodle place near work. Meeting Karina there for lunch today. http://www.yelp.com/biz/pho-lucky-southfield Back from the restaurant. Good. Everything was very fresh. I got the pho with rare beef tips, tripe, and tendon. Glad I tried it, but might leave out the tripe and tendon next time. Had a strong coffee with condensed milk; delicious at first, but like drinking chocolate syrup by the end of the cup. We'll be going back. Also, the portion sizes are huge. Home: - Check on Semibug. I didn't get any messages yesterday. I had changed my subscription to be non-digest; did that not work? Done. According to the archive, the last message was on November 10th, so I guess I didn't miss anything. - Set up command line weather with cron job Done. Cron job: 9 * * * * curl -s http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/observations/metar/decoded/KVLL.TXT | sed -n '5,6p;8p' > ~/.weathercurl zshrc: - timeout 2s weather -q kvll --headers=temperature,'relative humidity','sky conditions' --imperial | cowsay -n + cat ~/.weathercurl | cowsay -n - Add funerals for the fallen to my old school D&D house rules Nope. Rainy, windy, and cold. I went for a brief walk after work.
